June 5-7: T-TESS Appraiser Certification Training

T-TESS Appraiser Certification Training

LIMITED ENROLLMENT

Designed for graduate students in Principal and Superintendent certification programs, as well as teacher-supervisors, school administrators, and university supervisors. T-TESS (Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System) strives to capture the holistic nature of teaching. Concentrating on the idea that a constant feedback loop exists between teachers and students, and gauging the effectiveness of teachers within that framework, requires a consistent focus on how students respond to teacher instructional practices.

For these reasons, each of the observable domains in T-TESS focuses on the relationship field of teachers-with-students rather than separating them into separate domains. Ultimately, T-TESS is a process that seeks to develop habits of continuous improvement. The process itself best leads to that outcome when appraisers and teachers focus on evidence-based feedback — and professional development decisions based on that feedback — through ongoing dialogue and collaboration.

T-TESS learning objectives fall into three component areas:

  • Goal-setting and professional development planning
  • The evaluation cycle (pre-conference, observation, post-conference)
  • Student growth measures

T-TESS is the state-recommended appraisal system designed to support teachers in their professional development and help them grow and improve as educators. This three-day T-TESS training is a prerequisite to the online T-TESS certification test required for all teacher appraisers.

Participants must attend all three days of training to receive certification.

Required Materials: Participants must purchase separately the $35 T-TESS Training Guide and T-TESS Rubric, state-required resources for the sessions.
